There is an obvious work pressure in office or at home. People working with computers the entire day tend to have an adverse effect on their eyes and health. Now-a-days, our entire lifestyle depends upon machines. The style of our living and eating has completely changed. Due to this, we are losing touch with natural beauty and at the same time various artificial chemicals used in our food are affecting our health.
Eyes are the central point of beauty, through which we can watch the beauty of the world. T.V., cinema, working till late night, inadequate sleep, pollution, smoke etc. cause problems to our eyes. Let us take care of our eyes irrespective of our age.
Enhancing Eyesight
- Sit comfortably on a chair or in Padmasana and try to see alternatively ten times to left side and ten times to right side without moving your neck. Practice this without moving your neck.
- Set yourself in the same position as you did in the first step. After that, move your eyes in clockwise and again move it in anti-clock wise direction.
- Try to focus both your eyes on tip of the nose. Without closing your eyes, try to concentrate both your eyes on the corner of the tip of the nose. If your eyes feel tired, then you must close your eyes and again repeat.
- Sit like earlier exercises and then look forcefully, in the middle of both the eyebrows. Do not blink you eyes. If you feel pressure or tears coming out of your eyes then close your eyes for sometime, take some rest and repeat the exercise. It is also called "Shambhaui Mudra."
- Sit in the same position as stated above and then blink your eyes as fast as you can. Practice this exercise 50 to 100 times.
- Sit comfortably. Stretch your hand in front of your eyes. Fold all your fingers and then fix your gaze on the thumb tip: Slowly bring this thumb towards the eyes, maintaining same height from the ground throughout and then move away the same thumb tip. During the whole exercise, concentrate on the thumb tip only. Practice this at least for 10 times.
- Rub both your palms with each other, and as they become hot by friction, put them gently on both your eyes, until they regain normal temperature. Repeat it 10 times.
- Sit likewise at ease, light a candle in front of your eyes, at a distance of 1'/a yard then watch that flame until tears come out in your eyes. Practice this exercise for 5 minutes daily.
- Walk on the meadow bare foot for at least 10 minutes in early morning.
- Each morning, take some water in your mouth, hold it and then throw some water on your open eyes, as if washing them. Do it at least for one to two minutes.
How Yoga Benefits for Eyes
All these yoga exercises, strengthen our eye muscles, decrease stress, synchronize our eyeball movement and improve eyesight. It also increases accommodating and focusing power of eyes, often people shed their spectacles after regular use of these yoga exercises. If we keep in mind certain other things, in addition to these yoga exercises then we can have more gain for our eyesight.
- Do not stare continuously at the TV or Computer.
- Protect your eyes from the intense Sun rays.
- Do not stress your mind, control you temper and anger.
- Take nutritive food, milk, fruits etc.
- Wash your eyes with the Trifalla water kept for overnight.
- Do not read a book in train, bus or in dim light.
- Put 2 drops of rose-water in your eyes before going to bed.
- Always adopt positive views.
- Do not stop your tears forcefully as it causes adverse effect on eye muscles.
- Always use good cosmetics.
