Which Diet Should I Choose for Quick Weight Loss

We have all been on the diet roller coaster.  It seems like every day that there is a new and improved diet that guarantees you will lose thirty pounds in two weeks.  Let’s get real.  We all know that it is not humanely possible to lose that much weight that quickly.  The key to losing weight and keeping it off is to lose the weight the right way.  I have tried every diet known to man and I have had little success except for the Atkins diet.  I had three children within five years and I gained one hundred pounds with each one.  I currently weigh one hundred and twenty pounds which is five less pounds than I weighed in high school, all thanks to the Atkins diet.

The Atkins diet is based on eliminating almost all carbohydrates from your diet.  Your body produces less insulin when you eat food composed of fiber, fat and protein.   On the Atkins diet you eat high-fiber; whole food carbohydrates which keep your sugar level and energy level the same throughout the day.  That is one of the reasons that the Atkins diet is so popular.  On this diet you will not experience those rapid changes in your energy level.  When you balance your fat, carbohydrates and protein in your daily diet you change your body to burning fat instead of storing it, thus creating rapid weight loss.  It is important that you know what you are putting into your body.  Everything that you put into your mouth has to be processed by parts of your body.  When you understand how your body processing these things you will know exactly what you can and can’t eat.  It may be hard for you to know everything at first but as time goes by you will know what to buy at the grocery store and you will know what you can order off of the restaurant menu.

As with every diet you need to drink plenty of water with the Atkins diet.  The more water you drink the better off you will be.  Water is not only good for your body but when you drink large amounts of it you will have the sensation that you are full and you are less likely to eat.

There are certain foods and drinks that you need to stay away from.  Let’s start by looking at the foods that are prohibited on the Atkins diet.  If it’s white it’s not right.  Let me explain.  Foods like rice, bread and flour are strictly forbidden.  You also want to stay away from potatoes or anything that has potatoes in them.  Along with this food you want to steer clear of cake, pie, noodles and anything that is breaded like chicken fried steak or chicken fried chicken.  You also need to watch what you drink.  It will not do you any good if you eat properly and drink a beverage with sugar in it.  Coke, Dr. Pepper and Pepsi are off limits.  You can drink.
